Taco Bell in the UK

You read me right. Taco Bell is back. For those of you not in the UK in the 80s (like me) you won’t necessarily know that Taco Bell enjoyed a short stint in a few select areas of the UK.  For whatever reason, the Brits just did not take to it and Taco Bell focused their world domination efforts in other areas.

But they are back.

Scott was at Lakeside Shopping Centre today and sent me this picture message:

With all the Mexican food coming to London, I just don’t know what to do with myself.  Chipotle just opened in London. Taco Bell is coming to a shopping mall near you. Praise Jesus, Nachos Bell Grande for us all!

I said this on Emily’s post about Chipotle, and I’ll say it again: we need more Wagamamas in the US now! It’s only fair.

This is the best news I’ve heard all day. Maybe one day it’ll make its merry way past the north/south divide. A girl can dream.

Yes… Leicester Sq. It was a place of comfort for us ex-pats with kids. My daughter, now 27 and working for the BBC in NYC, was traumatized when we arrived to celebrate her 7th birthday to find the location abandoned and could only make out a faint Taco Bell from where they had removed the sign from the building facade. To this day, Taco Bell remains a staple in our diet… sad to say.

This makes me almost as happy as the confirmation from Krispy Kreme that after 3 years of teasing me they are coming to Scotland.
